C Mountain Residence
Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah
This site has a magnificent mountain view which is emphasized by the subtle transition between front and back facades of the residence. The plan is a simple, straightforward approach with a very strong line of private and public zones within the house. Wood, stone and glass combine to make a transition between the old vernacular buildings in the mountain area and the new built environment. The spatial dimensions of the interior of the main structure are determined by the rhythm of the module used throughout the form. The placement of the residence also reinforces the topography of the site thus giving a balance between object and landscape.
