Bountiful, Utah

Set on the brow of a hill that commands views of nearby Bountiful and the distant Salt Lake is the Sanderson Residence. The design intentions for this project focused on framing these views, opening the terraced floors to natural light, and molding the contour of the land to create an intimate connection with the surrounding context. Defining the form of the house are low sloping roofs that reduce the scale of the entry. Upon entering, the volume, light, materials and framed views immediately transform the home into a place of warmth and solitude.
